Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• alcohols
• cigarettes
• communication equipment
• distilling apparatus
• essences and extracts soluble in alcohol
• fruit
• gold items
• medicines
• military appliances
• mineral water
• plants and parts of plants
• saccharine
• sugarcane.

Drugs and medicines

Drugs and medicines are accepted only if addressed to a chemist.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• absinthe
• animals
• asbestos
• coin-making apparatus, currency
• credit card blanks
• diamonds, rough
• drugs, no prescription
• false French trademarks
• fish in tins exceeding 1 kg
• ivory
• jewellery
• precious stones and metals
• knives (except cutlery)
• Red Cross designs
• soil
• weights and measures, non-metric.
